Sutton Smith is a current graduate student at the University of Alabama studying community journalism. He dreams of working in the journalism field as a writer or producer.

He enrolled at the University of Alabama as a News Media Major with a concentration in sports to make this dream as attainable as possible. He knew that Alabama would properly prepare him for this dream; he will continue to work hard every day to attain his goal. He will graduate with his Masters degree in August of 2024. He is a current Graduate Assistant inside the Digital Media department at WVUA 23.

Sutton is from a small town called Hamilton, Georgia. From a young age, he was involved in and around sports settings daily. This involvement grew into a love he shared with his father, in particular of, Alabama football. In high school, he decided to work towards a degree in sports media upon enrolling at the University of Alabama. While at Alabama, he narrowed his focus down even further in wanting to become a writer, while increasing his skills in many areas on top of writing. By enrolling in the one-year community journalism master program, he showed his dedication to his craft by committing to increase his skill level instead of entering the workforce. By doing this, he made himself as well-rounded and marketable as possible.
